Job Description Our Client is looking for a Project Engineer and designer for their company in the Oxfordshire area within the Technical Solutions department. Reporting to the Technical Solutions Manager, the Project Engineer will manage product design / development projects (working closely with both the commercial team and the end customer), and the product industrialisation process (tooling manufacture, trials and part approval) for assigned technical solution projects, with performance displayed through the completion of successful projects to agreed standards, timelines and within budget. The role requires excellent communication skills, at all levels, as part of the project management process, keeping all stakeholders regularly updated with progress. There will be occasional requirements for travel (domestic and overseas) to visit other sites, customers and toolmakers. Job Requirements Main responsibilities include: Manage new technical solutions projects from product conception, through design/development, prototyping, tool design and build, trials, approvals and into successful manufacturing. Provide design solutions to meet unique customer application requirements, offering the best value adding solutions for the customer. Support with management of the custom enquiry pipeline, evaluating production and financial viability of projects, taking them through feasibility review, costing and providing quotations to the commercial teams. Assist with technical enquiries for both custom and standard legacy products. Support the commercial team on customer visits by providing technical expertise in product design, materials and process capabilities available. Ensure tooling produces parts to agreed specifications and quality levels and within estimated cycle times by utilising the input, experience and knowledge of the tooling review team and external toolmakers. Maintain and help develop project management and monitoring processes for all new 'live' tooling projects. Ensure all stakeholders of live projects are kept regularly updated with current project status through project timelines and review meetings. Manage the creation and archiving of all part and tool drawings to Essentra standards utilising the departments standard CAD and product data management systems (Solidworks and PDM). Engage in the wider business to offer technical expertise, knowledge and experience and provide assistance in continuous improvement activities. Education, Skills, Experience Required: Engineering degree (preferred) but not essential provided there is the relevant experience in product design, project management and ideally injection moulding processes. Proficient in the use of CAD (Preferably Solidworks) and all MS Office applications. Good analytical, problem investigation and solving skills - Ability to source and understand a wide range of technical specifications. Excellent attention to detail that is applied to all documentation and communication. Excellent communication skills to ensure outstanding customer service and good team working.
