Job title: Teaching Assistant - SEN Location: Wimborne Salary: £17,200 £18,500 Time Frame: Permanent (September Start) Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week, Term time only) Simply Education is currently working with a specialist academic and therapeutic provision in a peaceful, rural setting, for young people aged 11-16 with additional social, emotional and mental health needs. The school believe in giving young people the tools and opportunities to create the lives they want for themselves. The school offer varied curriculum, including academic subjects such as English, maths, science, humanities, and art up to GCSE level, as well as vocational subjects including horticulture, animal care and motor vehicle engineering. This beautiful school is looking for a Teaching assistant to join their team. Set in a beautiful location this would be an amazing place to work. The main role of the Teaching Assistant will be to support the student s development in a safe and caring learning environment, so they can be successful and independent. Teaching Assistants need to have the ability to build a professional and trusted relationship with the students putting thier health, safety and overall development first. You will be supporting the teaching staff, helping deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, whether on or off site, on a daily basis. Having the ability to adapt to any given situation is key as days can vary from working 1:1 with a student when required or supporting in class working with a small group. Using positive behaviour management is a big part of this role. Key duties: - Take responsibility for Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the students according to policies, and discharge your duties under the Prevent agenda. - Work alongside the teaching staff to support our young people in their learning, providing further explanation to individuals where needed. - Support our young people to identify, meet and exceed their education targets. - Implement and support positive behaviour throughout the college, adapting own behaviour and responses when required to meet individual needs. - Ensure all documentation is completed correctly for recording of accidents, incidents, or health & safety as per the college s policies. - Assist the young people in attending a wide range of group activities, ensuring that their choices are respected and appropriate social interactions and friendships are encouraged - Ensure that practice at all times implements and follows the young person s Educational/Learning Approaches; Placement/Care plan; Behaviour Support plan, and Communication/Sensory strategies Qualifications, Knowledge and skills needed: - GCSE English and Maths qualification - minimum grade 4 or equivalent is essential - Experience of working in an Education setting - Relevant knowledge and experience with young people aged 11-16 - Understanding of the Safeguarding principles - Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge. - Experience of working within an inclusive setting This college offers GREAT benefits: - Full training and continued support - Opportunity to gain qualifications, funded by the school! - Free lunch - Life assurance and pension - Health cash back plan - Car lease scheme - Bike to work scheme - Perk box - Free parking This is a fantastic opportunity for the right Teaching Assistant to really make a difference, why not let that person be you If you are interested in this role, please click 'apply now', forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to (url removed) or call me on (phone number removed)
