Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services (DPACS) Center services children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric challenges, and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philospohy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.
Being a Transportation Driver/Residential Counselor has its Advantages
As a Residential Counselor at Devereux's Brook Program, located in Glenmoore, PA, you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individual in need. We offer an environment that is supportive, educational, and clinically focus. This position will give you the opportunity to gain knowledge about psychiatric diagnosis, behavioral interventions, trauma informed care and work with a clinically based treatment team.
Provides transportation for assigned clients for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to: medical appointments, discharge visits, court hearing, recreation activities, and home visits. Responsible for all documentation required relative to the use of Devereux PA vehicles. Assist in the movement and delivery of various materials to include client charts, mail, supplies, small medical equipment, etc. as needed. Observes all traffic rules to include always maintaining a safe speed, signaling, parking in appropriate areas, etc.
Primary responsibilities include providing transportation and driving students, when not providing transportation, you will function as a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor
Specialized training opportunities including PBIS, ABA, TIC, Safe and Positive Approaches, DBT and IEP
Growth and Development opportunities to include Supervisory training for those qualified and showing leadership potential
Opportunities to servce on specialized committees and workgroups including PBIS/DBT committees, MERC (internal safety). Restraint reduction initiatives. Ad HOc committees by program to address specific program needs.
